DPA Submissions

DPA welcomes the general principles informing this draft coastal plan. Acknowledging the draft plan has incorporated some disability community input, it is also evident that other perspectives have been missed including those of blind and vision impaired people and older people, amongst others.

This week DPA made a submission on the Human Rights (Disability Assist Dogs Non-Discrimination) Amendment Bill.

The Human Rights (Disability Assist Dogs Non-Discrimination) Amendment Bill ) recently passed its first reading unanimously and is now out for public submissions.

DPA strongly believes that our adoption laws need to be changed to align with the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD) to end the decades of discrimination and marginalisation in the adoption process for both disabled children and parents.
