Sunflower lanyards - Te Whatu Ora Waitematā and Christchurch Airport
Te Whatu Ora - Waitematā and Christchurch Airport are both now participating in the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Lanyard scheme - a programme that shows staff lanyard wearers might need extra support.
Te Whatu Ora - Waitematā
Te Whatu Ora - Waitematā say hospital staff will recognise the Sunflower Lanyard and can provide wearers with help they may need at the different stages of their time with them. If wearers are feeling overwhelmed, staff can slow down a process for them and offer extra assurance. For those who would like a Sunflower Lanyard, you can arrange to collect one at the Main Entrance to the hospital before your appointment.

Christchurch Airport
Christchurch Airport says Sunflower Lanyards let their staff know wearers may need a little extra help and support while at the airport. The Hāpai Access Card is acknowledged at Christchurch Airport in the same way as the Sunflower Lanyard and can be worn instead of, or as well as, a sunflower lanyard.
The airport has also put together visual guides for navigating the airport, has lower sensory bathrooms, quiet spaces and a quiet pod will be available from December.
Sunflower Lanyards can be requested through the airport and either posted out to you or picked up from the Airport Services office.
