International Day of Persons with Disabilities Christchurch celebration
December 3 is the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. To celebrate the day, we invite you to join us for a morning of fun and activities for disabled people, families, tangata whaikaha Māori, whānau, and aiga.
When: 10.00am – 12.00pm, Sunday December 3
Where: Te Pou Toetoe Linwood Pool, 141 Smith Street, Linwood, Christchurch 8062
Disability Rights Commissioner, Prudence Walker, will be joining us as a guest speaker.
The purpose of the event is for community to come together, reflect, and plan for the new year together.
The theme for this year is: ‘Everyone working together to make the world better and fairer for people with disability.’ This is a wonderful opportunity for all of us to showcase the great mahi that has been happening in our community and what we need to achieve for and with disabled people of Ōtautahi.
This will be a relaxed event. There will be a few short speeches, some simple refreshments, and some completely optional fun activities.
This event is jointly hosted by Whānau Whanake, Hei Whakapiki Mauri, Disability Leadership Canterbury and DPA.
