New Zealand's emissions reduction plan sets out the direction for climate action over the next 15 years. Part of this plan is to transition to a low emissions economy (reduce greenhouse gas emissions).
The Government is developing an Equitable Transitions Strategy to make sure that the move to a low emissions future is fair and inclusive. This means making sure opportunities work for everyone, supporting people through this period of change, and upholding Te Tiriti o Waitangi. A draft Strategy will be released in June 2023 and a final Strategy published by June 2024.
As part of the work developing the strategy, people are being asked to share their views.
There are several ways to have your say and stay informed on progress. You can complete an online survey, register for regular project updates or attend one of the many workshops and hui that will be taking place both online and around the country.
For more information and to have your say see Equitable Transition Strategy.
People have until April 2023 to have their say about the strategy.
