We are seeking an Employment Project Advisor, with a focus on the Waikato region, who will be responsible for leading the development of a business case for funding of an updated DPA’s Mahi Tika – Equity in Employment programme and to support the DPA team with advice around employment for disabled people.

The skills and experience required for the job include:

  • well-developed critical thinking, analytical and writing skills.
  • experience in reviewing and analysing reports and research, identifying key findings.
  • previous experience in developing business cases and/or funding applications.
  • ability to communicate clearly, succinctly and effectively.
  • understanding of the barriers to employment facing disabled people.
  • organised, methodical, and focused on task completion; able to meet deadlines.

We are keen to hear from people who, in addition to the skills and experience required for the job, also have:

  • understanding of and commitment to a disability rights approach 
  • knowledge and understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and the United Nations Convention on the Right of Persons with Disability, and
  • personal experience of disability and/or identifies as a disabled person.

About the Disabled Persons Assembly (DPA) NZ
As a pan-impairment disabled people’s organisation (DPO), we work closely with our members and the wider disability community with the collective aim of creating systemic change for the equity of disabled people.
