If you and your whānau have been significantly impacted by COVID-19 you can now apply to providers for funding support through the Direct Support fund. Funding is limited with each disabled person within a whānau able to apply for up to a maximum of $2,000 as long as funding is available.
Priority is given to helping with:
- connecting with social networks and communities
- support for the whānau of a disabled person
- precautions to prevent exposure to COVID-19
- connecting with support networks.
This fund was established in May 2022, the government set aside $5 million dollars to support disabled people and their whānau. The fund was increased in June 2022 by another $3 million.
