Free Fares NZ is a collective for making public transport more equitable. They are currently calling for public transport free for Community Service Card holders, tertiary students and under 25 year-olds.
With rising food and housing costs, the high cost of public transport is a barrier to participating in the community for many. Free Fares NZ says the starting point for making transport affordable is targeting the group that is least likely to be able to afford it but who rely upon it.
They are asking for people to get involved and have their voices heard. There are different ways you can do this:
- By signing the petition
- By supporting the Free Fares NZ media team and have your voice heard. You can use this easy form to send Free Fares NZ a comment about why you support free fares.
